Triptykon Announce "Melana Chasmata" Details

Triptykon's second album, Melana Chasmata (rough translation: "black, deep depressions/valleys") will be released on April 14 (Europe) and April 15 (North America), 2014, through Century Media Records/Prowling Death Records Ltd.

 

Like its predecessor Eparistera Daimones, the album was produced by Triptykon's singer/guitarist Tom Gabriel Warrior and guitarist V. Santura and recorded and mixed at V. Santura's own Woodshed Studio in southern Germany as well as at Triptykon's rehearsal facilities in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2013 and 2014. Those who have already heard Melana Chasmata have described it as "atmospheric, dark, diabolical, and dramatic", "diverse, epic, and doomy, but on an entirely different level", "a fierce boulder of abhorrence", or "very heavy and yet very aesthetic at the same time".

 

Melana Chasmata will feature the following nine songs, at a playing time of around 67 minutes:

Further new Triptykon music has been recorded, to be released as an EP or mini album later in 2014 or early in 2015.

 

Among other formats, the album will be released as a 32-page Mediabook (with lyrics and liner notes to every song, and with a special fold out poster), as a gatefold vinyl double album (with posters and large-format booklet), and for digital download. Additionally, Century Media is scheduled to issue a special box set, limited to 2000 copies. The box set will include the album, a Triptykon silver pendant, a poster, postcards, a Triptykon tote bag, and a cap.

 

To commemorate the unveiling of Melana Chasmata, Century Media will release a collector's gatefold 7" vinyl single, featuring the songs Breathing and Boleskine House. The single will be available on March 17, 2014, and be limited to a pressing 1000 (of which 200 will be in red vinyl). Breathing and Boleskine House will also be available as a digital single (including the option for a digital booklet), and they will be streamed on YouTube and Soundcloud.

 

Melana Chasmata will be further distinguished by featuring, for the second time for Triptykon, the extraordinary art of legendary Swiss surrealist HR Giger. FollowingEparistera Daimones, the group began to make arrangements for an entirely different cover for the second album. Completely unexpectedly, HR Giger approached Tom Gabriel Warrior in October of 2011 to express his appreciation of how Triptykon had used his art on the first album and to propose a continuation of the artistic collaboration. This development thus marks the first time any musical artist has worked with HR Giger on three albums (Celtic Frost's To Mega Therion, and Triptykon'sEparistera Daimones and Melana Chasmata), and it commemorates a collaboration that has now lasted for 30 years.

 

Melana Chasmata features Giger's dramatically mysterious Mordor VII (work no. 283, 100 x 70 cm, acrylic on wood, 1975) as a front cover and Giger's Landschaft XVI[Landscape XVI] (work no. 209, 100 x 70 cm, acrylic on paper on wood, 1972) as gatefold art.

 

After a lengthy hiatus, Triptykon will return to the stage this year to promote Melana Chasmata. Among the concerts so far scheduled are appearances at the celebrated Roadburn Festival, at Rock Hard Festival, and, pending the issuance of the proper visas by US authorities, Triptykon's return to the United States for an exclusive appearance at Maryland Death Fest.

Cartoon Network Announces Blu-ray™ and DVD Release for Adventure Time: The Complete Third Season

One of the most influential and respected instrumental rock guitarists to emerge in the past three decades, Joe Satriani is that rare "musician's musician" who's crossed over into the mainstream with music sublime and complex, appealing to a wide variety of tastes.

SALIVA RETURN WITH NEW SINGER, LABEL, SINGLE, ALBUM, AND TOUR

If you counted Saliva out when you heard that they had parted ways with singer
Josey Scott, you have been proven dead wrong - all you have to do is give a
listen to the group's upcoming single, "Rise Up" (impacting radio and available
for purchase via all digital stores on February 18th), and album of the same
name (April 29th, via Rum Bum). And with new singer Bobby Amaru firmly in place,
it appears as though there is a bright future for the new-look Saliva line-up,
which also includes guitarist Wayne Swinny, bassist Dave Novotny, and drummer
Paul Crosby.

"We're lucky to have found him," says Swinny about his new band mate. "We
discovered him through one of our old crew guys. He really energized the rest of
us. He's a great songwriter, and a top-shelf producer in his own right."

With acclaimed producer Bobby Huff (Papa Roach, 3 Doors Down, Tim Finn) on
board, all the pieces seem to be in place. And Saliva has delivered with their
new single, "Rise Up." "'Rise Up' ...it's a statement on where we're at," adds
Swinny. "The title just has that fire to it."

And if you are a longtime Saliva fan, you are sure to be extremely pleased with
the full-length 'Rise Up' - a bold record full of big hooks, swagger and plenty
of guitars. And, outside of the ballad "Lost," it's first and foremost a rock

"Rise Up," to the slow build of "Choke," and the rollickin' "Redneck Freakshow,"
a song the band seems particularly proud of.

Saliva has already debuted a number of new songs live, with Amaru seamlessly
working his way into the line-up. "The audiences have been great," says the
singer. "I think we have a whole new energy on stage." Expect to see the band on
tour the rest of the year and well into next. "It's definitely a throwback, fun,
party rock show," adds Swinny. "And Bobby's putting his own spin on the older

RPWL tell of the hero of two worlds, Giuseppe Garibaldi who, being a tremendous admirer of the Greek antiquity became aware of a scroll of Plato's in which he analyzes the work of Hippocrates. It can be read in Garibaldi's diaries that Hippocrates had in fact found the formula for a medicine that leads the spirit into a real and absolute world, free of all illusion and invisible ghost worlds. The question, however, that inevitable arises at that point is the following: is the human race ready for what Plato called the "gift of absolute freedom?" It lies in the artistic fearlessness of RPWL that the band is not afraid of transferring that complex question to the world of today: is modern man, being the evolutionary creature that he is, ready for absolute freedom? To explore that, these Bavarians have established a back-story full of fantasy. In it RPWL and their friends aim at granting the world access to the product of the secret formula - disguised as a homeopathic drug against mental fatigue that goes by the name of "Veritas Forte." Considering the true intention of the operation the fact that the wrath of the churches of the world religions is unleashed at the band rather sooner than later is understood. And so, consequently, they are forced to go underground. That, however, is whereRPWL continues to organize ultimate liberation from all oppression through the machineries of illusion run by religions and sects. RPWL are Wanted. The action of Wanted starts several days before the great day: Plato's Day. The enemy's fear is ever growing, as, after all nobody knows at what point the mirages and illusions are eradicated from people's minds once and for all. In the course of the record RPWL shift through ten varied songs full of breathtaking soundscapes and tell a compelling story of courage, doubt, bravery, the unconditional desire to never give in and, ultimately, the belief in what is right. By making a philosophy that is new and to a degree unique the subject of the concept of Wanted, RPWL bring the principle of the concept album to a new level. That is how this gigantic piece of art evolves into a true explosion of creativity.
